Apparently famous Diane Pernet is a quite good supporter of Georgian fashion and designers, and we can proudly say that she mostly likes MATÉRIEL and our designers. First in Paris when she was wearing some of our pieces during shooting Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week’s special project (thanks to Sofia Tchkonia and Gregor Devejiev for that). Also when she came to Tbilisi during MBFW, she shared her feedback about fashion week and MATÉRIEL on her blog A Shaded View On Fashion.
“The typical dark Georgian spirit runs deep in the blood of Aleksander. I’ve always liked his severe Gothic style that I find somehow super sexy. Bold construction in shapes, cuts and silhouettes that look simple and clean but that stand strong on their own. Matériel is a fashion collective, a manufacturer with its own production and boutiques, that has a roster of the brightes Georgian talents working for the brand.
Tiko part of Matériel’s Creative Team and generally really inspired by Rei Kawakubo this time took a hint on casualwear for a more easy-going and wearbale collection. I felt a Berliner’s vibe from the first exit to the last one.” – says Diane about MATÉRIEL’s two designers Aleksandre Akhalkatishvili and Tiko Paksashvili, after all she was one of the judges of Be Next competition where Tiko and Alenksandre were both winners.
